To Whom It May Concern:
I, Jonathan P. Neves, hereby submit this formal petition to record my conscientious protest against the moral, ethical, and spiritual corruption prevalent within current societal and governmental structures. This declaration is made in the exercise of my First Amendment right to petition the Government for a redress of grievances, and is grounded in deeply held biblical convictions, which govern my conscience and conduct.
My refusal to assimilate into a system or society marked by injustice, deception, oppression, and moral decay is not an act of rebellion, but an act of obedience to God, who commands His people to remain separate from the ways of corruption, uphold righteousness, and reject practices that lead to spiritual or societal destruction.¹
I therefore formally declare:
I. DECLARATION OF MORAL OBJECTION
• I refuse to conform to corrupt systems, institutions, or social pressures that violate the commandments of God.²
• I affirm my duty to walk uprightly, speak truthfully, and act justly, even when such conduct conflicts with the expectations of a fallen society.³
• I reject participation in systems that oppress the poor, reward evil, or normalize falsehood, for Scripture commands me not to be complicit in injustice.⁴
• I will not partake in practices that call evil good and good evil, nor will I submit to pressures that demand moral compromise.⁵
• I affirm my responsibility to warn, exhort, and stand firm, even if such positions are opposed by the majority.⁶
II. RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES AS A CITIZEN
This petition does not constitute a rejection of lawful authority. Rather:
• I acknowledge the authority of government as instituted by God, but only insofar as such authority does not compel disobedience to God’s law.⁷
• I affirm peaceful conduct, lawful petitioning, and moral steadfastness as my duties.
• I reserve the right of conscience, protected both in Scripture and the U.S. Constitution, to refuse participation in moral wrongdoing.⁸
III. COMMITMENT TO RIGHTEOUS LIVING
I commit to:
• Pursuing righteousness, justice, and mercy in all dealings.⁹
• Remaining separate from spiritual and moral corruption, while still seeking the good of my community.¹⁰
• Speaking truth even when unpopular, and standing firm even when isolated.¹¹
IV. REQUEST FOR FORMAL ACKNOWLEDGMENT
I respectfully request that this petition be entered into official record as a statement of:
• Conscience
• Protected religious conviction
• Political and moral protest
This petition is submitted not as an act of hostility, but as a lawful declaration of my biblically mandated duty to follow God above man when the two conflict.
Blessings and tender regard,
Jonathan P. Neves
